Frequently Asked Questions
What are the ages of the children being adopted?
Infant to 18 years for domestic adoptions and infant to 15 years for international

Are the children healthy?
Yes. Although there are some children with special needs also available. These children will generally qualify for special rates.

Are there requirements for the health of the parents?
This is a country and child specific consideration. Although general consideration would be that you are young enough and healthy enough to raise the child to adulthood.

Why does adopting a child cost so much?
It is true... adopting a child should be free. Unfortunately international adoption is quite a complicated legal process with a myriad of entities. These include foreign government, the INS department, county and state authorities, as well as the federal level state department... not to mention numerous notaries you will need, police checks, medical reports and social services evaluation. When you receive our packet, you are provided a complete breakdown of cost involved. We include estimates for every cost you will encounter. Although most of the money you pay to other entities, we still include them in our estimates so you can realistically plan all the cost you will be responsible for during the adoption.

How long does it take to adopt?
6 - 12 months is a general average although other restriction may apply that may make the process long.

What financial assistance is available for prospective parents?
You are now eligible for a $10,000 tax credit upon final order of your adoption. HOPE for Children Act (H.R. 622) is legislation to increase the adoption credit from $5,000 to $10,0000. This is a reimbursement of $10,000 from the federal government for your adoption expenses. The National Adoption Foundation also provides both loans and grants to those seeking to adopt.

Are there any age criteria to adopt??
You have to over at least 21 years of age. Other restrictions may apply with foreign adoptions.

Do you have to be married?
No. Singles can adopt children within the U.S. and some areas abroad. Although, some countries only accept married couples.
